Warrick County – Thursday afternoon, January 17, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Indiana State Police and Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Edward Daine Goodman, 33, of Boonville, for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, a Class C Felony and Failure of a Sexually Violent Predator to Possess Valid Identification, a Class D Felony. 

Detectives from the Indiana State Police Cyber Crimes Section were conducting compliance checks in Warrick County to insure convicted sex offenders were registering as required by law. During their investigation they determined Goodman, a convicted sexually violent predator, had moved from his previous residence in Boonville to a different address. Goodman failed to inform the Warrick County Sheriff’s Department of his recent move to 309 West Locust Street, Apartment 4A in Boonville. Goodman was arrested while walking around downtown Boonville without incident and taken to the Warrick County Jail. He is currently being held on a $4,000 bond.

Vanerburgh County Sheriff's Office News Release - January 10, 2013

Warrick County – Indiana State Police arrested former Boonville Assistant Police Chief Terry Winkler, 36, of Grandview, after a criminal investigation revealed he allegedly stole over $21,000 from the Warrick County Fraternal Order of Police. He was arrested at 10:30 this morning after he turned himself in at the Warrick County Jail. He was later released after posting a $5,000 cash bond.

Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation in March after being contacted by Warrick County F.O.P. board members regarding missing funds. During the investigation, Detective Al Sherretz determined Winkler allegedly made 19 unauthorized bank transactions from the Warrick County F.O.P. account and deposited over $21,000 into his personal accounts. Winker allegedly made the unauthorized transactions between April 2010 and July 2011 while he served as president of the Warrick County F.O.P. Winkler resigned from his position as Boonville Assistant Police Chief in March 2012.

Central Indiana - Monday, June 11th:  This advisory isn't local, but travelers to and from Indy will want to be aware of possible delays due to lane restrictions on Interstate 70. INDOT announced a resurfacing project on I-70 from just under six miles east of State Road 59 to three miles west of State Road 243 will begin on or after Monday, June 11th. This project was awarded to Rieth-Riley for $6.3 million. This project will have lane restrictions on the interstate in the area contractor will be working. This project is scheduled for completion at the end of July of this year.  

Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties - Tuesday, June 12th:  INDOT is announcing there will be temporary lane restrictions on Interstate 64 in Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties. Beginning Tuesday, June 12, crews will begin performing bridge maintenance activities on I-64 from SR 65 (exit 18) and SR 61 (exit 39). All work is scheduled to being at 7:00am - 3:00pm each day, with all work to be complete by Wednesday, June 13, weather permitting. This will be a moving work operation. 

Boonville - Thursday, June 14th: INDOT is announcing there will be lane restrictions on State Road 61 (S.R. 61) in Boonville. Beginning Thursday, June 14, crews will close the south bound lane of S.R. 61, 0.27 mile south of S.R. 62 at the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad.  During construction, a signal will be utilized to move through the work zone.  Crews will re-build half of the bridge structure at a time.  Work will begin at 7:00 a.m. local time and the project is scheduled to be complete by November 1, weather permitting.

Princeton - Monday, June 18th:  Work will be gearing up soon on the State Road 64 (S.R. 64) structure replacement project on the city’s east side.  Beginning Monday, June 18, S.R. 64 will close to through traffic; however  local traffic will have access to the point of closure, 0.40 miles east of the S.R. 65 east junction. The $1.3 million contract was awarded to Koberstein Contracting, Inc. of Princeton, Indiana, in April of this year.  The project includes the installation of a new drainage structure under S.R. 64 between Washington and State Streets and relocation of sewer and water lines in the affected area. The first closure is scheduled for Monday, June 18 and will be closed for five (5) days.  During the closure crews will also install stop lights on each end of the work zone.  When the roadway is re-opened to traffic, it will be one 12-foot lane and the stop lights will control traffic through the area.  The second closure is currently scheduled for Thursday, August 16 and will be closed for nine (9) days.  The signal will continue to be utilized as crews finish the installation of the drainage structure.  Once the structure is complete, the signals will be removed and crews will pave the area.  Traffic will be controlled by a flag person during this part of construction. During the closure of S.R 64, the official detour will route traffic on U.S. 41, S.R. 168 and S.R. 57. The overall project completion date for this project is December of this year.

Princeton - Monday, June 18th:  INDOT is announcing that the State Road 64 (S.R. 64) east bound exit ramp from U.S. 41 north bound in Princeton will be closing later this month. Beginning Monday, June 18, crews will begin connecting the new exit ramp from U.S. 41 north bound to S.R. 64 east bound. Work will begin at 7:00 a.m. local time. The ramp will remain closed 24-hours a day and is scheduled to re-open to traffic July 1, weather permitting. During this closure traffic will utilize the other ramps at the interchange to loop around and reach east bound S.R. 64. This work is a part of a $4.9 million U.S. 41 road resurfacing project that was awarded to E & B Paving of Anderson, Indiana.  The project also includes the construction of turn lanes at the U.S. 41 and S.R. 168 intersection and at U.S. 41 and C.R. 350S. The traffic signals at these intersections will be improved to incorporate the new lanes of traffic. Crews will also mill and pave the nearly 10 mile stretch of U.S. 41 and during this portion of construction, a 12-wide lane restriction will be in place.  The project also has a reduced speed limit and is patrolled by the Indiana State Police.

Vanderburgh County – Tuesday at approximately 4:52 p.m., Indiana State Police and Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash on I-164 at the 19 ½ mile-marker that claimed the life of a Boonville man. 

Preliminary investigation revealed Michael K. Horn, 47, of Boonville, was driving his 1988 Chrysler northbound on I-164 approaching the 19 ½ mile-marker when for unknown reasons he’s vehicle left the roadway on the west side and drove approximately 500 feet in the grassy median before colliding into the impact barrels and concrete support wall at the Elberfeld Road overpass. Moments before the crash, Evansville Central Dispatch had received several 911 calls reporting Horn’s vehicle was north of the 18 mile-marker driving all over the roadway. Horn was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers are still attempting to determine if Horn was wearing a seat belt. The investigation is continuing and an autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
