Vanderburgh County – Wednesday morning, May 22, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Indiana State Police and detectives from the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at 5015 East Sycamore Street in Evansville after receiving information the tenant of the apartment, Johnathan Henderson, 46, was allegedly involved in sharing child pornography.
In November 2012, a detective with the Indiana State Police Crimes Against Children Unit initiated an investigation into an unknown person sharing child pornographic images via a peer-to-peer file sharing network. During the investigation, the detective was able to download multiple images depicting child pornography and trace the online activity to Henderson’s residence in Evansville.
During the execution of the search warrant, detectives collected computers and other electronic devices from his residence. The devices were triaged in the Indiana State Police Mobile Forensics Vehicle. During the on-scene preview of these electronic devices, several hundred child pornographic images and videos were found, some notoriously graphic. The children depicted were as young as toddlers. Henderson was arrested and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail where he is currently being held without bond.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office expects to file felony charges against several members of a criminal group known as the “Felony Lane Gang”. The Sheriff’s Office believes that members of this group targeted vehicles parked at the Goebel Soccer Fields at 6800 N. Green River Rd during a soccer game on April 28, 2013.
Seven reports were taken by Sheriff’s Deputies and in each case, a car window was broken and a purse stolen.
Checks taken during these thefts were cashed in Louisville, KY and Warsaw, IN. Two persons, a male and female, were arrested in Warsaw and charged with several felonies related to cashing some of the checks stolen here.
The “Felony Lane Gang” operates by having one group of people commit the vehicle break-ins followed by a second group who disguise themselves to resemble the victims’ identification photos. They then go to a bank drive-thru and utilize the furthest lane (the Felony lane) from the tellers to attempt to cash the checks. This group is reportedly from South Florida and travel across the country committing these crimes.
Case files will be sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for possible additional charges on the two arrested and the investigation is continuing.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to not leave valuables in their vehicles. If they must, keep them out of sight and it would be best to lock them in the glove box or trunk.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2013 the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Deaconess Hospital at approximately 11:45 pm to assist the Department of Child Services with an investigation. Once on scene, the deputy was advised that a 13 month-old child had been seriously injured during an incident at 2505 Indian Bend.
Deputies then spoke with the infant’s mother, Constance Chante Grimm, who stated her infant daughter had spent the night with her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn Jeanette Devers and Scott Wayne Devers. Grimm stated she was aware Scott Devers would be the adult providing care while Marilyn Devers was at work.
Grimm stated at approximately 3:00 pm, Scott Devers had called her and advised her daughter had busted her lip. Believing the injury was minimal in nature, Grimm did not question Devers in detail how the injury occurred. At 4:30 pm, Marilyn Devers contacted Grimm and asked what hospital she normally takes her daughter to. When Grimm questioned why, Marilyn stated the child had fallen down the stairs of a bunk bed and needed to be seen. Grimm demanded that the Devers bring her daughter home. Once Grimm observed the injuries, she took her daughter to the hospital.
At the hospital, medical personnel found severe bruising and swelling to the child’s forehead and mouth as well as bruising to the back, legs and face. Some of the bruising was patterned in the shape of an adult hand. X-Rays showed a spiral fracture to her upper arm which was not consistent with a child falling from a bunk bed. The child was admitted and treated for her injuries. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Scott Devers was interviewed by Sheriff’s detectives. Devers maintained that the child’s injuries were sustained during a fall from the bunk bed, despite being confronted with evidence to the contrary. Devers did admit that he was the only one that had cared for the child and that the child had no injuries when she was brought to him. Devers was arrested and held in the Vanderburgh County Detention Center and was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Vanderburgh County – Wednesday morning, May 1, at approximately 8:20, Nicholas Schipp, 31, of Evansville, was traveling westbound on I-64 near the 19 mile-marker when he collided into the rear of an (INDOT) Indiana Department of Transportation vehicle pulling a crash attenuator, which is also known as a crash cushion.
INDOT had the passing lane of I-64 at the 19 mile-marker closed for approximately 15 minutes for highway maintenance before the crash occurred. The INDOT vehicle was not damaged, but the crash attenuator was destroyed. Schipp’s 2008 Dodge Magnum was totaled. Schipp was wearing a seat belt and did not required medical attention.
Indiana State Police and Indiana Department of Transportation encourage all motorists to pay attention when traveling in and around highway maintenance projects. Many of these highway vehicles are either stopped in the roadway or moving at slower speeds. The truck and crash attenuator that were struck also had a flashing arrow board indicating that motorists need to move into the driving lane. Warnings signs were posted on I-64 miles indicating highway maintenance was ahead. Schipp was cited for failing to yield the right of way to a stationary highway maintenance vehicle.
