The public will have a chance to learn about two major road projects and offer comments during two informal public information meetings next week.
The City Engineer’s Office and First Group Engineering, Inc., will present plans on proposed improvements to Lincoln Avenue between Green River Road and Newburgh Road at a meeting Wednesday, May 23, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at McCollough Branch Library, 5115 Washington Ave. This is the first of many opportunities to comment on the proposed improvements, tentatively scheduled for construction in 2015. The preliminary scope of the proposed improvements includes complete pavement reconstruction with the addition of a two-way, continuous left-turn lane and wider through-lanes to accommodate bicyclists. Also included in the proposed improvements is the addition of concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and storm sewers.
The second meeting will focus on the pending reconstruction of Oak Hill Road between Pigeon Creek and Lynch Road. The City Engineer’s Office and American Structurepoint, Inc., will present plans on the project Thursday, May 24, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Oaklyn Branch Library, 3001 Oaklyn Drive. Construction of the approximate $6 million project is tentatively scheduled to begin in the fall of this year and represents the second phase of improvements to the Oak Hill Road corridor. The first phase of these improvements was completed in the summer of 2011 and extended from U.S. 41 to Pigeon Creek.
The second phase of the project includes complete pavement reconstruction with the addition of a two-way, continuous left-turn lane and dedicated bicycle lanes. Also included in the project is the addition of concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm sewers and water lines.
