On 07/06/2012 at approximately 1041 hours, I was dispatched to 6649 Old Boonville Hwy, Arbors at Eastland, in reference to a criminal mischief report. Upon arrival I spoke with the assistant manager who stated that on 07/05/2012 at approximately 1230 hours, a fire had broke out in a field next to the apartment complex. The fire department was called out and was able to extinguish the fire before it reached the apartments themselves. The reported stated that they took pictures and she informed her supervisor of the situation. The reporter was informed sometime on today's date by a resident that there were several children that either lived in the complex or had family who did, were seen setting off fireworks in the field and that is what caught the field on fire. The reporter immediately called her supervisor and informed her of the latest update. The supervisor asked the reporter to file a police report so that they can in turn evict those responsible and collect on damages. The reporter gave me addresses and a list of the children involved. I then attempted to speak with the aunt of one of the children but was met with no answer at the door. I then went over to the second apartment and was able to speak with the children's mother. The mother stated it was impossible for her children to be involved because they either weren't home or were too young. I stressed the seriousness of the offense to the mother and she stated her children still didn't do it. The reporter has numerous pictures of the damaged grass on their property and will be seeking restitution for it.
